How to Hard Reset a Windows Mobile 6

By Qyou Stoval

Technical issues may cause your Windows Mobile 6 device to require a hard reset, which clears out all data from the phone and reverts all programming back to the original manufacturer's default settings. A hard reset cannot be reversed; once it is done all your personal information will be cleared from the mobile phone. Windows Mobile 6 phones either have built in software programs that you can access to clear the storage, or you can click the reset button on the device.

Reset Button

Step 1

Press both the soft keys used to select and access software.

Step 2

Simultaneously press and hold the "Reset" button with a small pointed object like a toothpick or gem clip for five or more seconds. The "Reset" button is located on the back of the phone.

Step 3

Wait for the phone to power off and turn it back on, if it does not do so automatically.

Clear Storage Program

Step 1

Access the menu of the Windows Mobile 6 and navigate to "Settings." Select the "System" tab.

Step 2

Click on the option to clear storage.

Step 3

Type in the password "1234." When prompted to accept the warning that your data will be erased, click "Yes."
