How to Hide Favorites on Facebook

By Will Conley

Facebook refers to favorites as "likes." When you "like" a status update, a posted item or a Facebook Page, it may show up on your Wall, in your profile information and in your friends' news feeds. It's even possible that your Facebook likes could be visible to the whole world, depending on your privacy settings. If you would prefer that only certain people -- or no one but yourself -- be able to view your Facebook likes, you can restrict them through your connection settings.

Step 1

Log in to your Facebook account. Click the "Account" tab in the upper right area of the site window and select "Privacy Settings" from the pull-down menu that appears.

Step 2

Click "View Settings" under "Connecting on Facebook" near the top of the page. This displays your connection settings, including those for sharing your likes.

Step 3

Scroll down to the very bottom of the screen and locate the "See Your Likes, Activities and Other Connections" section.

Step 4

Click the drop-down box and select "Friends of Friends," "Friends Only" or "Customize." Selecting "Customize" lets you allow specific users, block specific users or completely restrict the ability to view your likes to "Only Me."
