How to Hook a PS3 Up to a Laptop

By Greyson Ferguson

Laptop computers are extremely flexible and versatile; many provide the same features that are found in a desktop computer, but in a smaller size. It is also possible to connect your PS3 to your laptop computer, if you have the correct connections on your laptop. And even if you do not, you might be able to add the required video tuner card to the computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Laptop
  • Video tuner card
  • PS3
  • RCA cables
  • 3.5mm headphones to RCA cable

Step 1

Connect a video receiver card to your laptop computer if you do not currently have one installed. You can get an external video card and connect it to your laptop via USB cable. Install any required drivers and software that come with the equipment.

Step 2

Connect the RCA cables to the PS3. These cable are provided with the gaming system.

Step 3

Plug the yellow video RCA cable into the yellow RCA port on the video tuner.

Step 4

Connect the 3.5mm adapter to the microphone port on the laptop. Plug the red and white RCA cables into the RCA end of the adapter. This brings the audio in from the device so you can hear it over the speakers of the laptop.

Step 5

Power on the PS3 and launch the software that came with the video tuner card. You can see the contents of the PS3 on the laptop monitor.
