How to Hook Up a TV to a Computer With USB

Connecting a television to a computer can help to increase your usable amount of desktop real estate, but it can be problematic when you do not have a free output on your video card. You can circumvent this problem by connecting your television to your video card via USB output using nothing more than a simple connector to bridge the gap between the interface mediums.

Things You'll Need

  • USB video card adapter
  • VGA cable

Step 1

Plug the USB end of the USB video adapter into any port on your computer.

Step 2

Connect one end of the VGA cable to the VGA end of the USB video adapter.

Step 3

Connect the other end to the VGA port on the back of your television.

Step 4

Use the "Input" button on your television to change your TV to the VGA channel.

Step 5

Restart the computer to complete the connection.
