How to Hook Up a Wii to an HDTV

By Stephen Lilley

The Wii is an immensely popular home video game console developed and released by Nintendo. It is the successor to other popular consoles like the Nintendo Gamecube, the Nintendo 64 and the classic Nintendo Entertainment System. If you have an HDTV, you have to physically connect the Wii to your TV in order to be able to use it.

Step 1

Plug the gray, plastic end of the Nintendo Wii's audio/video cable into the "AV Multi Out" input on the back of your Wii. The Wii's proprietary audio/video cable branches off into three distinct cables, colored yellow, white and red.

Step 2

Plug the yellow component video cable into a yellow component input on the back panel of your HDTV.

Step 3

Plug the white component "Left Audio" cable into a white component "Left Audio" input on the back of your HDTV.

Step 4

Plug the red component "Right Audio" cable into a red component "Right Audio" input on the back of your HDTV. Your Nintendo Wii is now properly hooked up to your HDTV.
