How to Import Corel Draw to AutoCAD

The vector-based graphics editing program Corel Draw uses the file format .cdr, a type of file which many other programs are unable to read. AutoCAD uses the .dwg format and cannot process .cdr files. In order to use graphics created in Corel Draw with AutoCAD, they must be converted into another file format. This can be performed in Corel Draw itself, or through the use of a file conversion program.
Open your .cdr file in Corel Draw, using the "Open" option in the "File" menu.
Open the "File" menu again and choose the "Export" option.
Choose the file type you would like to convert your file to from the drop-down menu. This should be either .dxf or .wmf, which are the AutoCAD text format types. Export the file.
Open the new graphic file in AutoCAD. Export the file as a .dwg file. This will create a usable .dwg file.
You can also download a third party file conversion program, if you do not want to use the exporting features in Corel Draw and AutoCAD.

Warnings
Do not convert your .cdr files directly to .dwg in Corel Draw. This process is unreliable and often results in a loss of raster data.
