How to Import Videos From an iPhone to a PC

The Apple iPhone provides users with immense flexibility in terms of media processing and accumulation. You can transfer videos that you have downloaded to your iPhone or shot using your iPhone's built-in camera to any Mac or Windows computer. Once you connect your iPhone to a computer using the USB cable that came with the device you will automatically initiate a procedure for copying videos from the iPhone to your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable (included with iPhone)

Import Videos to Windows 7 or Vista

Step 1

Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC using the USB connection cable that came with the iPhone.

Step 2

Click the "Import pictures and videos" option when the AutoPlay window pops up.

Step 3

Type in any identifying information that you would like to tag your videos with, if you wish to do so.

Step 4

Click the Import button to copy all photos and videos on your iPhone to your Windows PC. The imported media will be displayed in the Windows Photo Gallery application, which will launch immediately. Click "Recently Imported" on the menu on the left side of the program window to view the imported videos.

Import Videos to a Mac

Step 1

Connect your iPhone to your Mac using the USB connection cable that came with the iPhone. The iPhoto application will automatically open on your Mac, unless you have disabled this feature. If so, open the iPhoto application manually.

Step 2

Click the iPhone icon under the "Devices" heading located on the left side of the iPhoto program window.

Step 3

Select all videos that you wish to copy to your Mac.

Step 4

Click the "Import Selected" button to copy the selected videos to your Mac. Alternately, you may click the "Import All" button to copy all photos and videos on your iPhone to your Mac.
