How to Insert a Google Map into Microsoft Word

Google Maps is an online map application that allows you to create, share and view maps. Although you cannot place an interactive Google Map into a Microsoft Word document, you can change the Google Map into a static image by taking a screenshot. You can then edit the screenshot in Microsoft Paint and insert it into your Word document like a normal image.

Create a Screenshot

Step 1

Open your Internet browser and navigate to the Google Maps site.

Step 2

Press the "Prt Scr" key on your keyboard to take a screenshot.

Step 3

Click the "Start" button, type "Paint" in the Search box and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. This launches the Paint program.

Step 4

Hold down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and press the "V" key. The screenshot loads on the Paint program's canvas.

Step 5

Click "Select" from the Paint toolbar.

Step 6

Click the top-left corner of the Google Maps image, then drag your mouse until you have drawn a box around the map.

Step 7

Click "Crop" to crop the extra image around the map.

Step 8

Click "File," "Save" to save the map as an image on your computer.

Insert Google Map into Word

Step 1

Open the Word document in your Word program.

Step 2

Click the "Insert" tab on the program's toolbar.

Step 3

Click "Picture" to browse for an image on your computer's hard drive.

Step 4

Double-click the Google Maps image you created. The map inserts into your document like a normal picture.

Step 5

Save the changes to your Word document.
