How to Install a Logitech Webcam Without an Installation CD

By Quinn Marshall

Some Logitech webcams are plug-and-play and don't require drivers, while other webcams include an installation disk loaded with the drivers and software necessary to use the device. You need to find a different source for the drivers if you've lost the installation disc or purchased a used Logitech webcam that didn't include the CD -- you cannot run a non-plug-and-play Logitech webcam without the proper drivers.

Step 1

Identify your Logitech webcam's model number, which may be located on its packaging or a sticker attached to its cable.

Step 2

Go to the Logitech website's "Support + Download" page (see Resources). Type your model number exactly as it appears on your Logitech webcam into the "Enter model number or product name" field on the Web page, then click the magnifying glass icon to search.

Step 3

Click the "Downloads" link located at the top of the page. Choose your operating system from the drop-down menu. Select either "Smart Installer" or "Full Installer"; the smart installer downloads a small file that downloads the rest of the necessary files once installation begins, while the full installer downloads all the installation files before installation begins. Double-click the installer file and follow the instructions to install the drivers and software.

Tips & Warnings

  • Double-check the driver before downloading to make sure it's the correct version for your webcam and operating system.
