How to Install Batteries Into a Maglite

By Jay Darrington

Maglites aren't just regular flashlights. They are made of hard metals for heavy-duty flashlight work, and include a lens that adjusts from a spotlight to a floodlight. Maglites also come in varying sizes and power. However, with each size comes a need for bigger and more powerful batteries, which need to be installed properly before the flashlight will be of any use to you.

Step 1

Unscrew the bottom of the flashlight by turning it counter-clockwise.

Step 2

Drop the first battery down the flashlight positive-side first.

Step 3

Place the remaining batteries into the light positive-side first. Ensure that the negative side sticks out of the flashlight from the last battery.

Step 4

Push the battery down firmly with the bottom of the Maglite. Turn the bottom of the Maglite clockwise as you push down in order to secure it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not mix old and new batteries in the flashlight.
