How to Jailbreak Your IPhone

So you've heard of the benefits of jailbreaking your iPhone and want to experience it for yourself. Well, you are about to join hundreds of iPhone users that have already jailbroken their iPhones.Whether you want to fix the bugs in the iPhone, you want to use your phone as a modem, or you just want more cool content you've come to the right place.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone
  • Internet Connection
  • Itunes
  • Microsoft Windows

Step 1

The first step here is to download the Quick Pwn Jailbreaker Tool. If you look down at the resources section you will see a link that says "Quick Pwn". This file comes zipped. Unzip it and extract it to a file such as C:\quickpwn.

Step 2

Download the firmware image that you are downgrading to and save it in C:\quickpwn. You will find the firmware options listed in the resources section.

Step 3

Open iTunes and make sure that it recognizes your iPhone.

Step 4

If you are running the first generation iPhone click on iPhone 2g.bat. If you are using the second generation iPhone click on iPhone 3G.bat. Finally if you are an Ipod Touch user click on IPod touch.bat.The command window that comes up will tell you to kill any and all iTunes processes but you must NOT do this for this to work properly. Leave iTunes running and forget about it.

Step 5

You will be prompted to turn your iPhone off. Do so by holding power and sliding to power off. Do not disconnect the iPhone from the computer. Now to get the phone into DFU mode. With the iPhone powered off and connected to the computer hold power and home together for exactly ten seconds. Release power while holding the home button and hold until the PC beeps. Once the program recognizes that you are in DFU mode the program will take over. You will see this prompt: "Please wait while your phone is being Jailbroken". When the process is complete you are done!

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find many apps that can only be used on Jailbroken phones simply by Googling.
  • You can restore to your original firmware at any time and this process does not void your warranty.
  • Do not disconnect your iPhone from the computer once you have begun the process. If you do you will have to start over.
