How to Jailbreak Your iPod Touch 4G
Jailbreaking is a process that unlocks your iOS device from iTunes, allowing you to install third-party software from the independent Cydia application store. The fourth generation iPod touch -- often referred to as the iPod touch 4G -- can be jailbroken quickly and safely using the online JailbreakMe tool. This online tool unlocks the device and installs Cydia without the need to download new firmware files or to reset the iPod touch. Syncing with iTunes is recommended before beginning the jailbreaking process as a safety measure.
Tap the "Safari" icon on your iPod touch's home screen to launch the Web browser application.
Navigate to the JailbreakMe website. A listing is displayed for the Cydia app store application.
Tap the "Free" button, then tap it again when the text changes to "Install." Cydia is downloaded to your iPod touch.
Tap the "Cydia" button once installation has completed. A dialog box is displayed requesting that you update the application.
Tap the "Complete Upgrade" button. The latest version of Cydia is downloaded and your iPod touch restarts to complete the jailbreaking process.
Tips & Warnings
