How to Join Split Zip Files

By Carter McBride

Zip programs allow users to zip a file. Each zip program uses the same basic functions. This compresses the file so that it is smaller. At times, people need files set at a certain file size. If the file size is greater than the persons need, they can break the zip file into several sections. The first file has an extension of *.zip. The remaining files have a number in the extension to identify what number the file is in the set of split files.

Things You'll Need

  • Zip program

Step 1

Find the first file in the split files. This is the file with the extension *.zip.

Step 2

Double-click on the file to open it.

Step 3

Click the "Extract" button and the program will unzip each file in the series of split files.
