How to Keep iPod Earbuds in Your Ears

By Jerel Jacobs

The iPod is the biggest selling personal music device ever. Despite its popularity, some people have experienced problems getting iPod earbuds to remain in their ears. By taking a few extra moments to position them correctly, you can make sure they will be snug fitting and secure, allowing you to listen to music worry-free.

How to Keep iPod Earbuds in Your Ears

Step 1

Identify the left (L) and right (R) iPod earbud.

Step 2

Holding each earbud firmly, place them inside your ears, and rotate slightly so they snug into the outer ear canals. The stalk portion of the earbuds should be angled down toward the ground.

Step 3

Gently push the outside of each earbud with your index finger to ensure it is well-seated into the ear opening.

Step 4

Try to wear the iPod so the cord has plenty of slack. Tucking the iPod inside a pocket can pull on the earbuds out of your ears.

Tips & Warnings

  • For those running or doing other vigorous activities, try wearing a headband positioned over your ears to help keep the earbuds in place. If you continue to have problems, consider investing in a pair of in-ear headphones, or lightweight DJ-style over-the-ear headphones.
