How to Load Songs on an iPhone

By Paul Ramone

The iPhone can handle the necessary functions of a basic phone but also allows you to store and play music and video, as well as view pictures. If you want to load your music collection to the iPhone, you can do so easily with the help of the free iTunes program.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with iTunes
  • iPhone
  • USB connector cable
  • Music files

Step 1

Launch the iTunes program on your computer. If you do not have this program, you can download it for free from the link in the "Resources" section of this article.

Step 2

Connect your iPhone to your computer using the supplied USB connection cable.

Step 3

In iTunes, select the iPhone icon under "Devices" on the tray on the left side of the program.

Step 4

When iTunes prompts you with a message asking to create a special playlist to sync with the phone, accept the prompt and drag the songs you wish to add from your library into the playlist. When you have finished creating the playlist, select "Sync".

Tips & Warnings

  • An iPhone that is set to "automatically sync" will add iTunes content to the phone as soon as it is connected.
