How to Make a Cents Sign in a Word Document

Microsoft Word makes it possible for users to insert a variety of special characters and symbols into their documents. This includes international characters and monetary symbols. According to Microsoft, the characters and symbols available in Word depend on the selected font. If you can't find the character you're searching for, try switching, for example, to Calibri or Times New Roman.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word. Place your cursor where you intend to place the cents sign.

Step 2

Click the "Insert" tab to open the "Insert" panel.

Step 3

Select "Symbol" and then "More Symbols" to open the "Symbol" window.

Step 4

Click the drop-down arrow in the box next to "Subset." Select "Latin-1 Supplement."

Step 5

Left-click the cents sign.

Step 6

Click "Insert" to make a cents sign in your Word document. Choose "Close" if you're finished with the "Symbol" window.

  • You can also press "CTRL," "/" and "C" to quickly insert a cents sign in Word.
