How to Make a Hiren Boot CD

By Jordan Baughman

When a critical hardware crash occurs, you are placed in the frustrating situation of needing to boot up your computer without actually running the operating system. Hiren's Boot CD is a form of free software that enables you to reboot your computer to access important files and create back up copies. To take advantage of Hiren's Boot CD, you will need to use Windows 7's "Disc Image Burning" feature to copy the ISO file to a DVD. The best time to do this is before you experience hardware problems on your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Blank DVD

Step 1

Download the Hiren's Boot CD ISO file (See Resources).

Step 2

Double-click the ISO file to prompt Windows 7 to open its image burning software.

Step 3

Insert a blank DVD into the computer's disc drive.

Step 4

Left-click on the "Burn" option to begin burning the ISO to the DVD.

Step 5

Remove the DVD after the burning process is complete.
