How to Make a Lenovo Recovery CD

By James Johnson

Making a recovery CD for Lenovo computers is more simple than ever thanks to the very easy to access and even easier to use ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery application found on Lenovo computers. If you know the right process to follow, you can easily create a copy of your Windows Vista recovery CD with no technical knowledge in the least.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 DVD and 1 CD or
  • 8 CDs

Step 1

Click the Windows "Start" button followed by "All Programs" and finally "ThinkAdvantage."

Step 2

Look for the option that says "Create Rescue and Recovery Media" after ThinkAdvantage has loaded, and click on that option. Then choose the option to "Create a set of Product Recovery Discs Now," which is located at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3

Click the OK button on the bottom of the screen, and you'll see the next screen asking you to load a CD (or DVD) and hit "OK."

Step 4

Let the process complete itself and insert the next CD(s) when prompted. The entire process can take up to 30 minutes to complete, depending on your PC's processor speed and other factors.

Step 5

Choose the same process again and run the recovery CD creation process with the already created DVD in the drive, and look at the bottom of the screen as the image to the left shows. It should say that the process has already been completed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Windows is the supported OS of Lenovo. Currently, Linux and other operating systems are not supported by the company, and therefore restore CDs are not available for other systems.
