Sometimes writing a message to a Facebook friend using only words isn't enough to fully convey what you're thinking. Using your keyboard to create symbols, such as smiley faces or hearts, adds more emotion into your Facebook comments. Creating a heart on Facebook is an easy process that is accomplished using the keys available on any standard keyboard. Type a heart by itself, or incorporate it into a longer comment.
Click inside the "What's on your mind?" field at the top of your Facebook news feed, or in the "Write a comment" field under a Facebook post.
Enter the "<" symbol using your keyboard. Follow the symbol immediately with a "3". The resulting character is: "<3". Type text before or after the symbol if you want to use the heart as a part of a longer message.
Hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard to send the heart. Facebook translates the symbol that you entered into a solid heart shape.
