How to Make a Text Skew Perspective in Illustrator

By Daniel Ketchum

When you are creating graphics for advertisements, fliers and signs in Adobe Illustrator, you will find that you have to give as much thought to the appearance of your text as you do to any of the images or other graphics you include. Fortunately, Illustrator makes it easy to apply any number of effects to text. For example, you can choose to skew the text's perspective.

Step 1

Start Illustrator. Select "File" from the menu, and choose "New." In the dialog, locate and open a document containing text you want to edit.

Step 2

Right-click on the text you want to edit, and choose "Create Outlines."

Step 3

Select the "Skew" tool from the toolbar, and use it to tilt the text slightly.

Step 4

Select the "Warp" tool from the toolbar, and use it to push the letters where you want hem. The last letters in the text should be smaller and pushed further back the first letters. Save your work.
