How to Make a Tri-Fold With Word
Tri-fold brochures are an excellent medium when you want to create a marketing brochure that contains lots of information in limited space. Microsoft Word's tri-fold templates have the advantage of having already set all the necessary margins and columns. Often, the structure--including the layout and graphics--is also laid out in a professional way. Starting your brochure using one of Microsoft Word's tri-fold templates will eliminate the need to perform the calculations for the margins. You can just add your data and graphics.
Open Microsoft Word, click the "Office" button and select "New" to open the "New Document" dialog box. Enter "tri-fold" in the "Search Microsoft Office Online for a template" text box located at the top of the "New Document" dialog box and press the "Enter" key. Select a brochure and click the "Download" button. Choose a brochure based on either the subject or the structure of the text and graphics in the brochure.
Consider which panel will end up where when you fold the brochure. The first panel on the first page will be the right panel when you open the brochure. The middle panel on the first page will be the back of the brochure. The last panel on the first page will be the front of the brochure. The first panel on the second page will be the left panel when you open the brochure. The middle and left panel on the second page will be the two panes revealed when you open the second flap in the tri-fold brochure.
Select an image and click the "Delete" key to delete it. Remove the images that are there and replace them with your own. Click the "Insert" tab and select one of the options available in the "Illustration" section.
Click in the text boxes and delete the text present and replace it with your own text.
Click the "Office" button and select "Print" to open the "Print" dialog box. Click the "Pages" radio button and enter "1" in the text box to print the first page of the brochure, then adjust the same page in the printer to print the back of the brochure. Click the "OK" button to print the brochure. Repeat the print instructions and enter "2" in the text box to print the second page of the brochure. Click the "OK" button to print the brochure. Fold the brochure twice to create three equal sections.
