How to Make a Web Site Available Offline

It's easy to access a website online, but there might be instances where you would like to save the web page for future reference when you are not online. This is especially useful for laptop users who want to view a web page when they are not near a wireless connection. Making a website available offline can be done with any popular Internet browser, including Internet Explorer, Safari, and Mozilla Firefox.

Make a Web Site Available Offline in Internet Explorer (Mac and PC users)

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer.

Step 2

Visit the website you want to make available offline.

Step 3

Click "File" and "Save As."

Step 4

Choose the location where you would like to save the website on your hard drive.

Step 5

Press the "Save" button.

Making a Web Site Available Offline in Safari (Mac users)

Step 1

Open Safari.

Step 2

Visit the website you would like to make available for offline viewing.

Step 3

Click "File" and select "Save As."

Step 4

Choose the location where you would like to save the website. Make sure "Web Archive" is selected in the drop-down box.

Step 5

Press the "Save" button.

Making a Website Available Offline in Mozilla Firefox (Mac and PC users)

Step 1

Open Mozilla Firefox.

Step 2

Visit the web page you would like to save for offline viewing.

Step 3

Click "File" and select "Save Page As."

Step 4

Choose the location where you would like to save the website.

Step 5

Press the "Save" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • When saving a website, you will also save all of the images embedded into the site as well. Make sure you have plenty of hard-drive space when saving a website.
