How to Make an Untraceable Phone Call

By Techwalla Contributor

A person may make an untraceable phone call for a number of reasons. Marketing companies often keep incoming numbers on file for telemarketing purposes. Customers calling such companies may not want their number identified to keep telemarketers from calling them. Additionally, investigative services often place untraceable phone calls while performing their investigative duties. Whatever your reasons for making an untraceable phone call, here are some tips to help you.

Step 1

Use a spoof card to make an untraceable phone call. Although spoofing services are mainly used by law enforcement agencies, anyone can obtain a card legally to keep his number confidential. A complete different phone number appears on the receiving end, making it impossible to trace the call. SpoofCard.com is an example of such service.

Step 2

Make your untraceable call from a soft phone. The call can not be traced back by using *57 or ANI since it is dialed through a proxy server. However, the ISP provider may be subpoenaed to release the IP number from which the call was made.

Step 3

Dial *67 before placing your call. Your number will not display on the receiver's caller ID. Nonetheless, if the person dials *57 after you hang up, he can still trace the call.

Step 4

Place your untraceable phone call from a public pay phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although pay phones calls are traceable, they provide a certain degree of anonymity. However, many public pay phones are now monitored by security cameras.
