How to Make Mp3 Files Louder

By John Fritz

Many times, an Mp3 file does not play at a desired volume. Fortunately, this is a very simple issue to fix--provided that you have the proper equipment to alter the file and the technical know-how. It is very easy to learn.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Audio Editing Programs

Turn It Up

Step 1

Open your audio editing program. It can range from third-party shareware off the Internet to professional systems such as Pro-Tools and Cakewalk, but anything with a basic decibel boost or compressor should do the trick.

Step 2

Import your Mp3.

Step 3

Open your compressor tool or decibel booster and increase the output levels so that the playback is now at the desired volume.

Step 4

Save changes and export the file.

Step 5

Play back the file to make sure desired changes have taken effect.
