How to Make My Thinkpad Screen Brighter

Most Lenovo Thinkpads are set with the "Energy Star" power management option set to default. While "Energy Star" helps to ensure a longer battery life, it can make the screen difficult to see. There are a few options to brighten the screen, all of which can be easily reset whenever you find your battery getting low.

Brightening A Lenovo Thinkpad Screen Manually

Step 1

Turn on your Lenovo Thinkpad.

Step 2

Hold the blue "Fn" key in the lower left of your keyboard, and press the "Home" key to make the screen brighter.

Step 3

Hold the "Fn" key and press "End" to dim the screen, if necessary.

Brighten A Lenovo Thinkpad Screen By Changing Power Plan

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button (Windows logo in Vista) and click "Control Panel."

Step 2

Select "Classic View" if it's not already displayed and double-click "Power Options."

Step 3

Click "High performance" to brighten the screen.

Brighten A Lenovo Thinkpad Screen By Adjusting Power Plan

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button (or "Windows" logo in Vista) and click "Control Panel."

Step 2

Select "Classic View" if it's not already displayed and double-click "Power Options."

Step 3

Click "Power Settings" under your current power plan. Slide the "Adjust display brightness" button under "On battery" or "Plugged in" to the right to brighten the screen.
