How to Make Youku Download Faster

By Joanne Cichetti

Youku is a video hosting service based in China. The website's database contains a great number of videos and movies, which can be watched online. The download speed of the streaming media can be slow at times, which is quite frustrating, especially when you're trying to watch an episode of your favorite series and the episode just won't load. However, don't give up so quickly as there may be some things you can try to improve the download speed.

Step 1

Open the embedded video on the Youku website. Then right click on the video, and select "Settings." You will find a folder icon in the settings. Click this icon and slide the bar on the slider to the far right towards "Unlimited."

Step 2

Go to the "Start" menu, and select "Control Panel." Then double click the "Internet options." On the "General" tab, you will find "Delete files." Select this option and check the box next to "Delete all offline content." Click "OK."

Step 3

Disable hardware acceleration by going to the "Start" menu. Open the control panel and click on "Display." Click on "Advanced" under the "Settings" tab. Then click the "Troubleshoot" tab and drag the slider to the extreme left for disabling the hardware acceleration.Disabling the hardware acceleration helps prevent choppy PC playback, which slows down streaming videos.

Step 4

Go to the "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel." Then click on "System" under "Performance and Maintenance." From under the "Advanced" tab, click the "Settings" button.

Step 5

Click the "Change" button under "Virtual memory" and select "C:\ drive." Then check the "Custom size" check box under "Paging file size." You can enter the initial and maximum size of the virtual memory you want to reserve. Ideally this size should be 1.5 times higher than your physical memory.
