How to Merge and Center Headers in Microsoft Excel 2007

A common frustration among Microsoft Excel 2007 users is creating professional looking titles above tables in their spreadsheets. Manually attempting to manipulate the text is a frustrating and time consuming task that rarely ends well. The ability to quickly and easily merge and center these titles will be a welcome time saver for many users.

Step 1

Select the cells you would like centered above the table in the worksheet.

Step 2

Click on the "Merge and Center" icon located in the Home Tab on the Ribbon. The Ribbon is the group of icons and tools located directly above the work area.

Step 3

Click on the "Merge and Center" option from the drop-down menu.

Step 4

Click on the "Unmerge Cells" option to un-merge the cells.
