How to Move an MP3 File to an iPhone

By Kefa Olang

Your iPhone includes a world of features. One of the prominent ones is the built-in iPod player that allows you to play music on the go. Your phone supports music in MP3 format. This compressed format is popular and allows you to listen to music in high quality. Using iTunes -- the default media player for managing iPhones, upload your favorite MP3 tracks to your iPhone.

Step 1

Connect your iPhone to your computer using your USB cable and launch iTunes. You should see your iPhone in the left panel under "Devices."

Step 2

Locate the songs you want to upload to your iPhone. If they are not in MP3 format, click the "iTunes" (Mac Users) or "Edit" (Windows users) menu. Select "Preferences."

Step 3

Click the "General" tab, and then click "Importing Settings." Select "MP3" in the "Import Using" box. Click "OK" to save your settings. Click the songs you want to convert to MP3 format, and click the "Advanced" menu. Click "Create MP3 version." The songs are converted to MP3 format.

Step 4

Click the plus (+) in the lower-left corner to create a new playlist. Name the playlist whatever you want, and then click "Music" under "Library." Drag the newly created MP3 songs into the playlist you created.

Step 5

Click your iPhone under "Devices" when you finish, and then click the "Music" tab. Click the "Sync Music" check-box, and then click the "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres" radio button.

Step 6

Select the playlist containing the MP3 songs, and click "Apply." ITunes automatically uploads the MP3 songs to your iPhone. Right-click your iPhone under "Devices" when the process completes and click "Eject." Close iTunes and disconnect your iPhone from your computer.
