How to Open a File With the Extension 3GP

By Alizarin Black

3GPP, the Third Generation Partnership Project, developed the 3GP video file format. Files with the extension 3GP are commonly used on 3G cell phones and cell phones supporting video capture. Users share 3GP files over the Internet for sharing purposes in message forums, peer-to-peer sites and other file-sharing websites. Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems have the ability to play 3GP files, but only a handful of media players play the video format.
