How to Open a Turbo Tax Document

By Brendan O'Brien

Turbo Tax is a popular website that allows users to fill out and file their taxes online. The site is particularly handy since it allows you to start your tax return, save it and return to it at a later date. You can also view how your current tax documents would look if you were to file them at that moment and past documents that you filed in previous years.

Step 1

Open a browser. Go to the Turbo Tax website (see Resources).

Step 2

Click the "My Account" link at the top of the page. Click the "Continue Your 2009 Return."

Step 3

Log in to your account with your username and password on the next page.

Step 4

Click the tabs at the top of the page to view your tax information for this year that you have entered.

Step 5

Hit the "Tools" icon on the right side of the main tool bar. Scroll down and click "View Tax Summary." This will give you a view of what a tax summary document will look like with your tax information on it. You can view this page as you continue to enter your information in your Turbo Tax account.

Step 6

Hit the "Preview my ..." button at the top of the page. This will give you a view of your tax document if you were to file it at this moment. You can view this page as you continue to enter your information in your Turbo Tax account. Click the "back" button to go back.

Step 7

Click the "Print & File" tab at the top of the page. This will allow you to make a hard copy of your tax return.

Step 8

Click the "View your returns from prior years" to take a look at previous years' tax returns. When you click this link, it will take you to a page that lists previous tax forms. The forms are PDFs, so all you have to do is click on their links and they will open as regular PDF documents.
