How to Open an Email Address With MSN

By Tara Kimball

Hotmail is the free email provider used by MSN and Windows Live. Traditionally, only MSN service subscribers could obtain MSN email accounts. MSN provided a registration page specifically to request a free MSN email account. MSN email extensions pass through most black list filters, reducing the risk of your messages landing in a junk mail folder. Create your own MSN email address that you can access from any computer with an Internet connection.

Step 1

Launch your Internet browser. Navigate to the MSN registration page link found in Resources.

Step 2

Enter your desired email address user name. Select a unique address to ensure availability. Enter the email address you have selected in the “Email address” input field.

Step 3

Enter your desired password in the “Password” entry box. Type your password a second time in the “Retype password” field. Your password should be at least six characters long and rate “Strong” on the rating bar.

Step 4

Choose an account security question from the drop-down menu. Input the answer to the question in the field labeled “Secret answer.” Enter an additional email address in the “Alternate email address” field if you have one.

Step 5

Enter the letters in the image at the bottom of the form into the text box. Type the letters exactly as they appear in the image. Click the “Continue” button.

Step 6

Input your account information as requested on the next form. The “Job Title” field is optional, and you may opt-out of the marital status and children details if desired. Click “Continue” once the form is complete.

Step 7

Review the service agreement and privacy statement provided. Enter your new MSN email address in the text field. Click “I Accept” to accept the terms of the agreements. Click “Continue” when the confirmation page appears.
