How to Print on Custom Size Paper

By Brittiany Cahoon

Sometimes you need a printed envelope, banner, flier or chart that doesn't quite fit the standard 8 1/2 x 11 page. Using Word, you can adjust your document and your printer settings so that it prints out looking professionally. The process is very simple to follow and you can create virtually any size document you wish.

Things You'll Need

  • Custom size paper
  • Printer

Step 1

Create your document in Microsoft Word. Select Page Setup under the file menu. Click on the "paper" tab and select your size specification from the drop-down menu at the top of the window.

Step 2

Select custom paper on the drop-down menu and type in your height and width specifications in the boxes provided below the drop-down menu. Ensure that the printer tray menu options under the specification boxes both have the default tray highlighted.

Step 3

Click on the "Start" menu. Select "Control Panel" and then "Devices and Printers."

Step 4

Double-click on the printer icon that is connected to your computer. Select the "Forms" tab at the top of the window.

Step 5

Select the same paper size specifications from the list provided. Check the box underneath the list that says "Create a New Form" if your paper size isn't provided. Type in your specifications in the provided boxes to ensure that your printer will print the right size.
