How to Program Your Time Warner Remote Control

By William Pullman

Time Warner provides cable service to several regions across the United States. People who subscribe to the Time Warner digital cable service are provided with a universal remote control that controls the digital cable box. In addition, you can program the universal remote control to operate other devices in your home entertainment center. Time Warner remote controls have two programming methods: manual code entry and searching for codes.

Manually Entering Codes

Step 1

Review the list of device codes in the remote's instruction manual and search for the manufacturer of your device. Your device may have several codes listed to operate the device.

Step 2

Turn on the device you want to program for operation with the remote control.

Step 3

Press and hold the device button that corresponds to the device you are programming and the “Select” button simultaneously until the device button turns on. For example, if you are programming your television, press the “TV” button.

Step 4

Aim the remote at the device and enter the first code on the list. If the code is successful at connecting the remote control to the device, the device will turn off. If the device does not turn off, repeat these steps.

Step 5

Save the code by pressing the device button.

Searching For Codes
