How to Recover Lost Itunes Library From Ipod

By Techwalla Contributor

So you go to open up itunes and your whole list of music is gone and all of your hard work just got flushed down the drain? Well in this article I will show you how to get that back to almost 100% normal.

Things You'll Need

  • Itunes
  • Ipod
  • Time

Step 1

The first thing that you have to do is plug in your ipod to your computer and have itunes pop up.

Step 2

Now they will ask you to sync your ipod DONT DO IT it will erase everything on your ipod and make it look like your itunes library.

Step 3

Now click on the box enable disk use and go to start, my computer, and find your ipod in the list of disks. If you don't see anything go to tools, folder options, and check the view hidden files and folders tab and apply and click ok. You should be able to see it now.

Step 4

Now find the folder that says something like ipod_control and click on it and find the music folder and click on it.

Step 5

It should bring you to a bunch of folders numbered in order from 1 to 49 or 50 depending on your ipod. If you click on a folder you will see a list of your music and videos in a 4 letter code don't worry there is nothing wrong.

Step 6

Go through each folder and copy every thing in it by holding CTRL + A and drag and drop it into your itunes library.

Step 7

YOu will have to do this for each folder that has music in it may take a while depending on how much you have.

Step 8

Once done your music will be back into your itunes library for you to use.
