How to Refill AT&T Prepaid Cards

By Mario Calhoun

Prepaid cards from AT&T are an alternative method of paying for cell phone use. People who use prepaid cards buy as a specific number of minutes, which prevents the high cost of monthly phone bills. Once the minutes are used up, the cell phone's account must be recharged by purchasing additional minutes through the toll-free AT&T customer service number, which charges the payment to your major credit card. Payment refill ranges between $20 to $100 and can be set up for automatic refills to eliminate the hassle of manually recharging the account.

Step 1

Call the toll-free number located on the back of the prepaid card from a touch-tone phone.

Step 2

Enter your PIN and press the "#" key to access your AT&T prepaid card's account. The PIN is located beneath the toll-free number on the back of the prepaid card.

Step 3

Press "3" on your phone to access the minute addition menu. Key in your 16-digit credit card number and press "#." Enter your expiration date and press "#" to confirm the information.

Step 4

Enter the number of minutes you wish to add to the prepaid card and press "#." The automated message will confirm your account refill when the transaction is successful.
