How to Register Mscomct2 in OCX

Mscomct2.ocx is a Microsoft Windows ActiveX file that contains the code that controls many common Windows operating system operations. Since Mscomct2.ocx provides Windows with essential instructions for basic functioning it must always be properly registered in your system registry. If your version of Mscomct2.ocx becomes corrupt or improperly registered then you can download a fresh version of the ActiveX control file and perform a manual re-registration using a simple in-line run command.

Step

Download an uncorrupted version of the Mscomct2.ocx ActiveX command file. If you are running Windows XP or sooner, place the file in the c:\windows\system32 directory. If you are running Windows 95, 98, or Me then place the file in the c:\windows\system directory. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, then place the file in the c:\winnt\system32 directory.

Click the "Start" button and click "Run". This will open the run command box.

Use the Windows Server Registration utility to register your updated Mscomct2.ocx controls. Type the following in the run command box if you are running Windows XP or newer: regsvr32 \windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

If you are running Windows NT or 2000, type: regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

If you are running Windows 95, 98, or Me, type: regsvr32 \windows\system\MSCOMCT2.OCX

Press the "Enter" key. You will see a message that says "DllRegisterServer ... Succeeded". Your newly downloaded ActiveX controls are now properly registered in your Windows registry.
