How to Remove a Battery From a Motorola Phone

By Amy McClain

Motorola makes a wide variety of mobile phones, from the very basic to the feature-rich. Regardless of model, however, chances are, your phone contains a rechargeable, removable battery. Over time, you may need to remove the battery from your Motorola phone for various reasons. Batteries occasionally need replacing. Some models also need to have the battery removed in order to access the SIM card or the memory card. Removing the battery also resets your phone if it is unresponsive.

Step 1

Press the "Power" button to turn your device off. (If your phone is frozen, you may skip this step.)

Step 2

Press down on the battery door lever (if applicable.) Slide the battery cover up and lift up to remove it.

Step 3

Grasp the top of the battery and pull up to remove it from the battery compartment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Batteries fit snugly in the battery compartment. If you have difficulty removing your battery, try turning the phone over and tapping gently on the front of the device -- the battery should loosen.
