How to Remove a Program From Windows 7 Startup

By Sharon Harp

Various programs, when installed on your computer, automatically set themselves to start up with the computer when you log in to the Windows 7 operating system. If you want to remove one or more of these programs from the Windows 7 startup routine, you can do so with the help of the "msconfig" program.

Step 1

Click on the Start button and type "msconfig" in the search box on the Start Menu.

Step 2

Press "Enter" and then open the "Start" tab in the "System Configuration" window that appears.

Step 3

Remove the check marks next to the programs that you don't want to start with the computer.

Step 4

Click the "OK" button and then click on the "Restart" button.
