How to Remove a Spotlight Search in an iPhone

The Spotlight Search feature of the Apple iPhone allows you to perform a sweeping search of various content on your device. You can execute a Spotlight Search for applications, music, videos, contacts, notes, podcasts. If you don't want your iPhone to look through certain content, remove that particular Spotlight Search item from your preferences. This way, the iPhone will only search through the content you specify.

Step 1

Open your iPhone's "Settings" menu.

Step 2

Select the "General" button. The General menu opens.

Step 3

Tap the "Spotlight Search" button. A list displaying every Spotlight Search item available on the iPhone. A check mark denotes the Spotlight Search items currently applied to your iPhone.

Step 4

Tap a checked Spotlight Search item to deselect the item and remove the search from your iPhone.

Step 5

Press the "Home" button when you are finished to return to your home screen.
