How to Remove a WhatsApp Account

By Todd Bowerman

WhatsApp enables you to text friends and family members in a similar manner to your phone’s built-in texting application, but doesn’t rely on your texting plan to send and receive messages. Instead, the app uses either your cellular data plan or a Wi-Fi network, depending on how you have your phone set up and the available connections. If you’re ready to delete your WhatsApp account, you can do so through the app itself.

Android

Step 1

Tap the WhatsApp icon to open the application.

Step 2

Touch the “Menu” button and select “Settings.” Choose “Account,” followed by “Delete My Account.”

Step 3

Enter your phone number and tap “Delete My Account” to confirm deletion.

iPhone

Step 1

Open the WhatsApp application by tapping its icon on your Home screen.

Step 2

Touch “WhatsApp Settings” to open the Settings menu. Select “Account.”

Step 3

Tap “Delete My Account,” and then enter your full phone number. Touch “Delete My Account” again to finish the process.

BlackBerry

Step 1

Open the WhatsApp application from the BlackBerry home screen.

Step 2

Open the “Settings” tab and select “Account.” Select “Delete My Account.”

Step 3

Type in your phone number and select “Delete My Account.”
