How to Remove an Email Address on Facebook Sign-In

By Erin McManaway

Facebook is an online social networking site that lets you connect with friends and family. A Facebook account is connected to a specific email address, and you must type that address every time you want to log into the site. However, even after logging out, if you return to the main Facebook page and click the "Email" login box, your email address may appear. This is because the browser's autofill settings remember previous user names typed into the text box. This can be a security issue, especially if you are logging into Facebook on a public computer.

Step 1

Log out of Facebook, then return to the main sign-in page.

Step 2

Double-click the "Email" text box. A list of emails that the browser remembers will appear in a drop-down menu under the text box.

Step 3

Click the down arrow key on your keyboard until you highlight the email you want to remove.

Step 4

Hold the "Shift" key, then press the "Del" key on your keyboard to remove the email from the sign in drop-down menu. Depending on the browser you use, you may need to confirm the deletion.

Step 5

Repeat this process for each email address you want to remove.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need to repeat this process each time you log into Facebook on a computer where you do not want the browser to store your email address.
