By Natalie David

IPods can hold more entertainment and information than some people may need in their pocket. For anyone who’s run out of space on their iPod, certain elements need to be removed. Whatever the reason, read on to find out how to remove address book contacts from your iPod.

Things You'll Need

  • iPod
  • Computer
  • iTunes
  • iPod connector cable (USB or Firewire)

Step 1

Using your iPod USB or Firewire connector cable, connect your iPod to your computer.

Step 2

In iTunes, select your iPod in the left hand window, under devices.

Step 3

Click on the “Contacts” tab in the main window. It is the second tab from the right.

Step 4

The first item is “Sync Address Book contacts.” It should currently be selected, so unselect the box beside it.

Step 5

A dialog box should then pop up asking if you would like iTunes to remove contacts that are already on your iPod. Click the right option that says “Remove Contacts.”

Step 6

Eject your iPod from iTunes. When ready, disconnect it from your computer. Your contacts should no longer be on your iPod.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you only wish to remove certain addresses from your iPod, create a new group in your address book containing only the addresses you wish to place on your iPod. Then sync only that group to your iPod.
