How to Remove the SSL Certificate from the Cache of Firefox

Firefox shows SSL certificate error messages when you access websites that use an untrusted SSL certificate. If you want to view the website anyway, you can add an exception from the error message page. Firefox permanently caches and trusts the SSL certificate after you add the exception. If you want to remove an SSL certificate from Firefox’s cache, you can use the Certificate Manager window found in Firefox’s options window.

Step

Click the “Firefox” menu button at the upper-left corner of the Mozilla Firefox window, and then click “Options.”

Step

Click the “Advanced” icon at the top of the options window.

Step

Click the “Encryption” tab in the Advanced pane.

Step

Click the “View Certificates” button.

Step

Click the tab at the top of the Certificate Manager window that corresponds to the type of certificate you want to delete.

Step

Click the name of the certificate in the list.

Step

Click the “Delete” button at the bottom of the Certificate Manager window.

Click “OK” in the Certificate Manager and Options windows.
