How to Remove the Utorrent Trojan

Ending the Utorrent Trojan Processes

Step 1

Click the "Start" button and type "taskmgr" into the "Run" or "Start Search" field. Press "Enter."

Step 2

Click the "Processes" tab and scroll down the list of names until you locate the following processes: utorrent-1.7-beta-1137.exeutorrent-1.7-beta-1137_patch.exeutorrent-1.7-beta-1137_supporter.exeutorrent.exe

Step 3

Right-click the processes and click "End Process." Exit the Task Manager.

Remove the Utorrent Trojan Registry Entries

Step 1

Click "Start" and type "regedit" into the "Run" or "Start Search" field and press "Enter."

Step 2

Locate the following registry entries:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{77ae90a3-daf3-429b-9e3f-fa1252467579} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{77ae90a3-daf3-429b-9e3f-fa1252467579}\inprocserver32 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{77ae90a3-daf3-429b-9e3f-fa1252467579}\inprocserver32 threadingmodelHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\shellexecutehooks {77ae90a3-daf3-429b-9e3f-fa1252467579}

Step 3

Right-click the entry and click "Delete."
