How to Repair a Laptop Cooling Fan
A laptop cooler fan helps your laptop to stay at a cool temperature and perform adequately. Laptop cooling fans can prevent problems such as burning your leg from the heat of the laptop, or leaving hot spots on the bed when left on for a few hours. Using a cooling fan can also optimize the performance of the laptop. This is a result from the cooling fan keeping the laptop from overheating and shutting down. Neglecting to clean the cooling fan can cause it to stop working.
Things You'll Need
- Compressed air
- Cotton swab
Remove the battery from the laptop. Remove the plastic cover that is concealing the fan. Remove the screws from the cover. Remember the placement of the screws.
Remove the tiny screws on the fan duct. Duct should come off with out any effort, if it does not, check for more screws.
Clean the fan with a cotton swab. Wipe away any dust or dirt that has accumulated on the fan blades. Use compressed air for a more effective cleaning.
Replace the fan duct cover and re-insert the screws. Screw the fan cover back on and replace the battery. Turn laptop on and wait for the fan to start up.
