How to Report a Hacker to Yahoo!
When a person hacks your Yahoo! account, you may find your password or profile information changed, contacts or email deleted or that everyone in your address book has begun to receive spam from your Yahoo! Mail address. Of course, at that point you can assume that any personal information that you kept in your Contacts or your account about yourself or others is in the hacker's hands. Yahoo! has created three ways for Yahoo! Mail account holders to report hackers -- via an online Mail Abuse Form, the Yahoo! Password Helper and Yahoo! Account Security Help.
Yahoo! Mail Abuse Form
Go to the Yahoo! Mail Abuse Form (see Resources).
Enter your name, Yahoo! ID (optional), non-Yahoo! secondary email address if not automatically entered and the Yahoo! ID of the person that you're reporting, if you know it, into the provided fields.
Select the field under "What is the violation?" to open a drop-down menu of options. Select the option that best matches the situation. For example, if someone deleted your Contacts, select the "Your Sent Messages or Contacts Were All Deleted."
Copy and paste the full header and body of the email that you believe resulted in the attack or attempted attack on your Yahoo! email account into the fields provided.
Fill out the last field with any additional information that you feel is pertinent or that may help Yahoo! with its investigation. For example, if you've received other emails from the same email address, clicked the link in the email prior to having your account hacked or if your contacts have advised you that a virus or similar issue has occurred as the result of emails sent to them from your Yahoo! account.
Click the "Submit" button when finished to report the hacker to Yahoo!.
Yahoo! Password Helper
Go to the Yahoo! Password Helper website (see Resources).
Select "My account may have been compromised" from the options and then click the "Next" button.
Enter your Yahoo! ID and the security code in the box in the fields and then click the "Next" button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to finish reporting the hacker and situation.
Yahoo! Account Security Help
Go to the Yahoo! Account Security Help Web page (see Resources).
Select the field under "What are your writing about?" to open a drop-down menu of options. Select the option that best matches the situation. For example, "Someone is changing my password, help secure my account."
Enter additional information about the situation. For example, if you provided anyone with your password recently, opened a strange email or clicked a link in an email from an unknown sender before your password changed.
Review your contact information and edit it if necessary. When finished, click the "Submit" button to file the report with Yahoo!
