How to Reset a Password on a Dell Laptop
Dell laptops use Windows operating systems, which you can configure using an administrator password. The password, which is encrypted, is necessary to log in to Windows. The purpose of the administrator password is to prevent unauthorized users from downloading programs, changing system settings and reconfiguring your computer. If you want to reset your password for whatever reason, or change it if you forgot it, you can do so in two very simple ways.
Things You'll Need
- Password reset disc
Resetting the Password as an Administrator
Restart your computer. Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete together twice. Type the name of the administrator user account and type the password. Click "OK."
Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Run." Type "control userpasswords2" (without quotes) and press the Enter key.

Click "OK" to save the changes and restart your computer. Log in to Windows using the newly created password.
