By Jon Stefansson

SonicWALL, based in San Jose, California, manufactures Internet security products. The company's TZ 190 is an external firewall that protects networks from Internet security threats such as viruses, malware and Trojan horses. You might need to reset your SonicWALL TZ 190 if you experience problems with the device's firmware or lose passwords to access the set-up page.

Step 1

Unfold a paper clip and use it to press the "Reset" button on the back of the TZ 190. Hold the button for more than a second.

Step 2

Open a new web browser window and go to "192.168.168.168." The TZ 190 "Safe Mode" menu will appear.

Step 3

Click the "Boot" icon (a hand with extended index finger) next to "Current Firmware with Factory Default Settings" to reset the TZ 190 to factory settings.

Step 4

Click the "Boot" icon next to "Current Firmware" to reset the TZ 190 and maintain the current settings.
