How to Reset a Verizon FIOS Router Password to Default

By Teresa Starr

Verizon FOIS operates over a fiber-optic network which provides users with fast download and upload speeds. In 2010, PC Mag ranked FIOS as the "fastest Internet in the United States" based on recent speed tests. When your FIOS Internet was set up from Verizon, you were asked to set up a password. If by chance you have forgotten your Verizon FIOS router password, you can reset it quite easily in just a few simple steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper clip

Step 1

Locate the red reset button on the back of the router. With the router still plugged in, press the pointed end of the paper clip onto the reset button. Hold down the button for approximately ten seconds.

Step 2

Release the reset button and wait approximately 15 seconds before turning on your computer.

Step 3

Launch Internet Explorer. Type "http://192.168.1.1" into the web browser. You will be prompted to type the name and password. Type "admin" for the name and "password" or "password1" as the password. You have now reset your FIOS router's password to its default.
