How to Reset a Verizon HD DVR Box

By Jordan Baughman

Verizon's FiOS, which utilizes a fiber-optic network, provides one of the most high-quality television services in the country. However, like all television providers, the electronic devices it utilizes can be far from perfect at times. If your television signal begins to act abnormally, you can manually reset the HD DVR (commonly referred to as a "Set-Top Box") to resolve the issue. Possible problems include pixelated images, blurry backgrounds and awkward menus. The manual reset will not erase anything you've recorded and should only take a couple minutes.

Step 1

Turn off the television.

Step 2

Unplug the HD DVR's power cable from the wall.

Step 3

Wait for 30 seconds and re-insert the power cable.

Step 4

Turn on the HD DVR only when you see its timer come back on.

Step 5

Turn on the television. Allow the interactive media updates to finish to complete the reset process.
